Data Engineer

Quinton Davies are working with an early stage cutting edge tech business to secure a Data Engineer to be based in Cardiff with flexibility. 
 
If you are passionate about cutting edge tech and the endless possibilities of Big Data then this is the role for you. You play a critical role in the business from day one working extremely closer with the CTO. 
 
You will help to define data products working with the Engineers and Data Scientists to develop it. You will take a lead position but still maintain a strong hands on aspect building the infrastructure needed for ETL from a range of sources including AWS and Azure. 
 
In order to apply for the position of Data Engineer you'll need to meet the following criteria:
  • Demonstrable experience with large data sets in a cloud environment
  • Proven experience mentoring and leading from the front 
  • Proven experience in Agile environments 
  • Demonstrable understanding of statistical models and algorithms moreover how these can be used to solve business challenges 
  • Technical experience including Java, Graph, Python, SQL, Scala and similar

Senior Payroll Assistant

Quinton Davies are partnered with an accountancy practice who have over 17 offices across the South West region who are looking for a Payroll Assistant 
 
This role will see you engage in all typical payroll activities and manage payroll on different cycles for a multitude of clients, so your organisational skills will need to be very strong. You will need to demonstrate a strong background in auto enrolment, RTI, statutory payments, and all period and year end procedures.

Due to the technical nature of this role, extensive experience in an end to end payroll position is essential. Previous bureau experience is preferred, though applications will also be considered from applicants with extensive experience in very high-volume payroll positions.
 
  • Running all aspects of client payrolls including start through to checking, checking and auto enrolment
  • Communication with clients and responding to client questions relating RTI, auto enrolment and HMRC legislative changes
  • Reviewing and verifying source documents
  • Processing payroll by established deadlines
  • Issuing statements of earnings and deductions
  • Reconciling employee deductions
  • Investigating and correcting payroll discrepancies and errors
  • Updating payroll records by recording changes including auto enrolment pension, loan payments and salary increases
  • Processing new employees, terminations, transfers and promotions
  • Preparing and printing payroll reports of earnings, hours worked, PAYE tax and National Insurance, auto enrolment pension and leave
  • Addressing employee's pay-related concerns and providing accurate payroll information
  • Completing requests for pay-related documents including statements and verifications
  • Producing HMRC payments
  • Developing, managing and maintaining comprehensive payroll records
  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and guidelines
  • Assisting with general office administration duties from time to time
  • Furlough calculations, including flexi furlough and holiday pay top ups

Assistant Accountant

My client is an international business with their head office based in the South West. Due to business growth, they are looking for an Assistant Accountant for a 3 Month FTC, with the size and growth plans of this organisation there may be a permanent opportunity offering whilst you are in this role, but this is not guaranteed.
As the Assistant Accountant you will be Responsible for:
  • Key financial reconciliations including weekly cash reconciliations and stock management
  • Reconciling petty cash spent in receipts
  • Reconciling individual orders from supplier accounts to invoices
  • Ensuring fraud procedures are followed
  • Monthly accounting processes to a group accounting timetable
You will have previous experience completing high volumes of complex bank and balance sheet reconciliations within a large organisation to instantly add value to this role. Good Excel and analytical skills are essential to this role.

My market leading client requires a Financial Accountant to join their established finance team in Bristol.

Responsibilities
  • Production of statutory accounts and information required the annual audit
  • Produce management accounts and supporting schedules, as well as annual budgets and income forecasts
  • Consolidation schedules
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Management and adherence of internal procedures, legislation, and audit of compliance
  • Analysis of expense claims
  • Financial reconciliation of the stock position
  • Debtor and Creditor report reconciliations
  • Reviewing payments, ensuring in line with agreed payment terms
  • lntrastat and Office for National Statistics reporting
  • Intercompany cost management
  • Providing supervisory support to the finance team where required

Skills and experience required
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent experience
  • Proven technical accounting experience across statutory accounting and reporting, and proven audit experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management experience
  • Strong/advanced Excel skills
